The project suggests a series of outdoor rooms that can maximize and activate riverfront experiences at Han River. Respecting the existing colonnade of Banpo bridge, 26 rooms between the old columns are transformed into diverse spaces, and thus accommodating various public activities. Each room involves different thematic and spatial experiences, which vary from recreational urban to lush nature. Initially designed for automobiles, Jamsu Bridge, breaks down into smaller and intimate human-scale, pre-fabricated platforms for future events. By simply rotating and elevating six modules, the project generates thousands of different spatial experiences, while creating an iconic pathway throughout the bridge. This undulating green network includes flood-adaptive planting strategies to not only help vegetation resiliency but also establish natural restoration of this mega-infrastructure from the industrialization era.
